Yesterday the Washington Redskins lost to the Green Bay Packers at home. If you followed some of the stories, there's a little fact that the last 16 times Washington has been at home the weekend before a presidential election with an incumbant running, when the 'skins have won, the incumbant has won. When the visiting team (Packers) has won, the challenger has won. So... this bodes well for Kerry tomorrow.
However, to make you Bushies feel a little more comfy, consider this: four other streaks ended:
- The University of Georgia Bulldogs beat the University of Florida Gators in Jacksonville, FL Saturday... their first time in 7 years.
- The New England Patriots lost for the first time since Week 1 of last year and snapped their 21 game winning streak... the longest in the history of the NFL.
- Two weeks ago, the Boston Red Sox came back from a 0-3 deficit to win a 7-game series against the New York Yankees 4-3. Last time that's happened: never. Now it's happened 1 out of the last 26 times a team has been down 0-3... sorry... 27 times (as the St. Louis Cardinals were swept by the Red Sox in the World Series)... bringing me to...
- Last week, the Red Sox won the World Series... their first since 1918.
'Tis the season to toss streaks aside. VIVA BUSH!
