Canceling my Conference Plans Due to Volcano Travel Issues

I had to cancel my appearance at the SharePoint 2010 Evolution Conference due to the Icelandic volcano eruption. Read about my experience here.

Unfortunately due to the travel issues surrounding the volcano in Iceland, I will not be able to attend or present at the SharePoint 2010 Evolution Conference (#spevo) this coming week in London.

I started my journey the weekend of April 10-11 en route to Trondheim, Norway to teach our SharePoint Designer course to a local consulting firm in Trondheim.

Then the volcano started causing problems on Thursday. The Trondheim airport was virtually closed through today. Last night some of my students were gracious enough to drive me through the night (11p-5a) to Oslo where I am currently stuck. I am in their debt big time!

Backup plan #6 in place to get to the UK by Tuesday night, in time to at least do a social bit of the #spevo conference. But right now, I just hope to get home to the US on my scheduled Wednesday flight out of Heathrow…

One day I’ll look back and laugh at this… but that day isn’t anytime soon.
